Action Plan

In 2014, key organizations throughout the City of West Chicago came together to develop a practical plan that would urgently address community health issues affecting our residents. The planning process brought together residents, institutional leaders, stakeholders, and local and external technical experts to develop goals, goal targets and achievement strategies, and to identify funding resources within a range of healthy community topic areas. Seven Generations Ahead, an organization based in Oak Park, was contracted to facilitate this planning process.

The Healthy West Chicago Community Action Plan is a roadmap to guide the program Director, Advisory Board, Task Force and key institutional stakeholders in West Chicago. The Action Plan provides objectives to improve nutrition and physical activity. Each of the objectives has a detailed set of strategies and action steps. Strategies address transportation, food, community development, open space, biking and walking infrastructure, physical education, and broader community education.

The Action Plan will guide the efforts of Healthy West Chicago for five-ten years. Read the full Healthy West Chicago Community Action Plan or the Community Action Plan’s Executive Summary by clicking the buttons below:
